Patricia Green (Squaxin Island, Quileute) is the Garden Program Manager at the Squaxin Island Tribe Community Garden. She has undergone training under several individuals who possess traditional knowledge of cultural teachings, including cooking, gathering, and restoring native plants and foods. During her tenure as an intern at the Squaxin Island Northwest Indian Treatment Center, Patricia had the opportunity to expand her knowledge. In this capacity, she assisted with the Herbal Pharmacy and Plant Teaching (A Tool for Connecting with Plants, Cultural Traditions, and Social & Emotional Skills: Created Through a Partnership with GRuB, Northwest Indian Treatment Center-Squaxin Island Tribe, and Seattle Indian Health Board) classes that the center offered to patients.
Through her tireless efforts, Patricia actively advocates for the conservation of traditional plant foods and medicine far and wide, reflecting her genuine care for the well-being of the present and future generations. Patricia’s approach and expertise make her an invaluable advocate for the Salish Roots Program, showcasing her dedication to honoring the cultural heritage of the Squaxin Island Tribe.
